Introduction
Thirty nine steps is a thriller. It is international espionage story where spies from different nations are involved. The book introduces our hero Richard Hannay, the protagonist and narrator, an expatriate Scot. He returns from a long stay in Southern Africa to face the new challenges in Europe. The book was adapted several movies most famous of which was an Alfred Hitchcock adaptation.
